When he draws he gives Africa new colors and his lines take on the shapes of the continent’s heart.
Artist Brahim Rais, born in 1981 in Morocco, graduated from the Educational Center of Morocco in 2008 and worked as a comics’ artist and arts teacher. His growing ambition as a young artist led him to publish his first book Passers-by (Les Passants) which won awards in the International Comic Festival in Tetouan and the International Comics Festival of Algiers FIBDA. The book was published in 2012 in Algiers by Dalimen Editions. The committee of the festival for African and Mediterranean countries selected Rais as an African-writer member for his unpublished book The Uprising.
In 2017, Rais published his book The Big Silence (Le grand silence) and another titled The Bou-Gafer Assault, both with Dalimen publishing house. Rais has also participated in many international festivals and his work was exhibited in Germany.
Rais is particularly passionate about history. In The Bou-Gafer Assault he created an illustrated story with his own view on the events after a long reading of the book on Henry De Bournazel. He drew history with the language of comics and discussed through it our own view as well.
There is a distinguished feel to the work of Brahim Rais. He mixes colors and words in such a way that turn his comics into a different, and very exceptional world.
حين يرسم فأنه يعطي لأفريقيا لوناً آخر، فتأخذ خطوطه الكثيرة أشكالاً من قلبها .
انه الفنان ابراهيم رايس، ولد عام 1981 في المغرب، وتابع دراسته في المركز التربوي في المغرب وتخرّج عام 2008 ليعمل كفنان للكوميكس وكمدرس للفنون.
لكن لم يقتصر طموح الفنان الشاب على ذلك، بل أخذه عالم الفنون الى أن يكتب ويرسم كتابه «المارة»، الكتاب الذي حاز على جائزة المهرجان العالمي للكوميكس في تطوان، وكذلك في مهرجان الجزائر العالمي للكوميكس (FIBDA) . نشر الكتاب في الجزائر في عام 2012 على يد الناشر داليمان.
اختارته لجنة مهرجان افريقيا والبحر الأبيض المتوسط كعضو فيها عن كتابه الغير منشور للكتاب الأفريقيين «انتفاضة».
ومؤخرا في 2017 نشر ابراهيم الريس كتابه «الصمت» مع داليمان، وكتاب آخر بعنوان «الاعتداء على بوجعغر»، أيضا مع الناشر داليمان. وبالاضافة الى ذلك شارك الريس في مهرجانات دولية كثيرة وعرض أعماله في ألمانيا.
للتاريخ شغف خاص عند ابراهيم رايس، ففي كتابه «الاعتداء على أبو جعفر» رسم الفنان قصة مصورة عن رؤيته الخاصة بعد قراءته الطويلة لكتاب هنري بونزيل. رسم رايس التاريخ لكن بلغة الكوميكس الخاصة التي يناقش فيها رؤيتنا أيضاً.
هناك نكهة لا تفارق القارئ والمشاهد لأعمال الريس، فمزج الألوان بالحبر عند ابراهيم رايس، تجعل الكوميكس عالما آخر، يجتهد الفنان الشاب ليجعل له أثراً خاصاً واستثنائيا.
