Palestine - 1978
Ramzy Taweel was born in Beirut in 1978, for a Palestinian father and a Lebanese mother, in the midst of the Lebanese civil war.
After years of travel leaving Lebanon for Syria, then Syria for Yemen and Yemen for Jordan, Ramzi finally came back to his father’s lands, in Palestine, just after the Oslo agreement in 1993.
He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Political Sciences, and then got his Master’s Degree in International Studies, and presently preparing for his Doctorate in Political Science.
He started his career as Freelancer besides the political caricaturing. Even though he continued his first passion in Journalism that led him to work at the Palestinian Presidency Office, as Media Officer, then as Head of Political Studies Department of the Presidency, and lately in the Public Relation Department in the Ministry of Culture.
His journey with caricature began long before he reached university. After that he started publishing his work among the students, then in the press department newspaper in his university, and later on in local magazines, newspapers and through Internet. His opposition in participating in any International caricature competition is obviously interesting.
Ramzy Taweel believes that his first commitment toward himself is not to draw what people want to see, but what people should see.
فلسطين - ١٩٧٨
من مواليد لبنان ابان الحرب الأهلية عام ١٩٧٨، لأب فلسطيني وأم لبنانية. ، اضطر للتنقل مع والديه من بلد الى اخر ، فمن لبنان الى سوريا الى اليمن الى الأردن، لتحط الرحال اخيرا في رام الله بفلسطين بعد توقيع اتفاق اوسلو .
حصل على بكالوريوس بالصحافة والعلوم السياسية ثم ماجستير في العلاقات الدولية ، ويحضّر الان لرسالة الدكتوراه في العلوم السياسية.
عمل في الصحافة بشكل حر الى جانب الكاريكاتير السياسي، وعمل في مكتب ديوان الرئاسة في قسم الإعلام الأجنبي، ومن ثم رئيس قسم الدراسات السياسية، ويعمل الان في وزارة الثقافة في قسم العلاقات العامة.
بدأ رمزي الطويل رحلته في عالم الكاريكاتير قبل وصوله الى صفوفه الجامعية، وفي الجامعة بدأ بنشر اعماله بين الطلاب وصحيفة دائرة الإعلام ومن ثم في المجلات المحلية والصحف الأسبوعية والإنترنت .
ومن الملفت ان الطويل يعارض الاشتراك في أي مسابقات دولية في الكاريكاتير وهو يؤمن بأن رسام الكاريكاتير يجب أن يرسم (ما لا يراه القراء وليس ما يطلبوه).
