Palestine - 1986
Mahmoud Abbas is a Palestinian caricaturist born in Al-Wihdat refugee camp in Jordan in 1986. He studied in Al-Azhar University and obtained a bachelor's degree in design and editing.
Mahmoud became famous during the “Al-Aqsa Intifada” for drawing paintings against Israeli occupation in camps and cities in the Gaza Strip. However, the incident that drove him to start drawing caricature was the murder of his father "Naeem" and his brothers "Hussain" and "Mustafa" by the Israeli army in 2007 and 2008. Drawing caricatures became a need for expressing feelings of loss, and it wasn't long for caricature to become his way of speaking out. Abbas's drawings spread via social media and media outlets, which was also the reason why he was subjected to campaigns of defamation, death threats, labeling as a terrorist by various parties, and was excluded from art exhibitions, because of his drawings usually carry criticisms of official authorities.
Mahmoud is a member of the Swedish Journalists Union, the International Federation of Journalists, and the International Cartoon Network and has won the honorary award at the World Humor Awards Festival in Portugal in 2021. He has held many exhibitions, such as “From the World to Jerusalem” - Ramallah 2018, “Jerusalem in the Eyes of artists” - Kuwait 2021, and “Our Date is Jerusalem” - Istanbul 2022.

رسام كاريكاتير فلسطيني ولد في مخيم الوحدات للاجئين الفلسطينيين في الأردن في 6 يونيو 1986. التحق بـجامعة الأزهر وحصل على درجة البكالوريس في التصميم والتحرير.
اشتهر محمود في انتفاضة الأقصى برسم اللوحات المناهضة للاحتلال الإسرائيلي على الجدران في مخيمات ومدن قطاع غزة. ولكن الحادثة التي دفعته إلى البدء برسم الكاريكاتير هي مقتل والده «نعيم»، وشقيقيه «حسين» و «مصطفى» على يد الجيش الإسرائيلي في عامي 2007 و2008. كان رسم الكاريكاتير بداية المتنفس له للتعبير عن مشاعر الفقد. كما حظيت رسومات «عباس» بانتشار واسع في وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، ووسائل الإعلام، كانت كذلك السبب بتعرضه إلى حملات تشويه وتهديد بالقتل ووصم بالإرهاب من جهات مختلفة. وتم استبعاده من معارض فنية بسبب رسوماته التي تحمل عادة انتقادات للجهات الرسمية.
الفنان محمود عباس عضو في نقابة الصحفيين السويديين، والاتحاد الدولي للصحفيين، وشبكة الكرتون الدولية وفاز بالجائزة الفخرية في مهرجان الفكاهة World Humor Awards في البرتغال عام 2021. وله معارض عديدة مثل : معرض من العالم إلى القدس- رام الله 2018، معرض القدس في عيون الرسامين- الكويت 2021، ومعرض القدس موعدنا - إسطنبول 2022.
