Ahmad Nady was born on December 31, 1981, to a family of creative types. His father Mohammad was a painter and his mother Iman Ezzat is a sculptor and writer.

He studied oil painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Helwan University, Egypt. Among his early cartoon characters was the “Amazing Mido,” a young inventor exposed to a special kind of radiation, which allowed him to easily change shape and form.

Nady’s first published cartoon was a political drawing he created during the Gulf War, when he was still in elementary school. It showed Sinbad hitting Saddam Hussein on the head, saying, “You’ve made the children of the world hate me now that they know that I’m Iraqi.”
In 1992, the barely 11-year-old Nady won first prize at a workshop held at the Mahmoud Mokhtar Museum.

He started his professional career designing characters for Simsom’s World (the Egyptian version of Sesame Street), in addition to animation and graphic drawings.

Nady has contributed to the works of many animation studios and production companies, and he has also drawn comic strips for several Arabic newspapers.

One of his first independent professional works was an adventure series called Fayek w Rayek, which followed its two main characters, a chimpanzee and a sloth. It was published in the Saudi Arabian comic magazine, “Basma” and was popular with children.

He has continued to create political works, and in 1996 won third place at a UNESCO exhibition, “Where We Live.” In 2004, Nady took place in an art exhibition organized by the Artists’ Syndicate, in solidarity with Palestine. He has also held several cartoon workshops across Egypt, including at the Library of Alexandria.
